Hello Friends,
Well, it's been six years since I retired from my career in nursing and I took up photography in a serious way. My interest in photography began with a focus on landscape and nature photography. Many of you have seen my work in person and on this website and I thank you for your support. I continue to enjoy this type of photography and if you are interested in seeing examples of this work please click HERE to go to this link. As you can see from my home page, I have changed the focus of my website to portrait photography. This came about a few of years ago when I took on the role of designated photographer at a family reunion and discovered that I really enjoy this genre. With the encouragement of my friends and family, I decided to take a leap of faith and launch a business in portrait photography. I love making connections with people and giving them a record of personal and authentic moments. I hope you will see this reflected in the images I have on my portfolio page. You will see from my portfolio that my portraits are taken outdoors at a variety of familiar locations mostly around Bainbridge Island, where I live. Shooting outdoors in natural light is my preference for achieving a more relaxed and casual look. Plus, it allows freedom to move around and to let moments unfold in an unrehearsed way. I enjoy working with families and children of all ages. Graduation and senior portraits are especially fun. I like to let teens have a big part in deciding the mood and location for capturing these moments in time. I can photograph small gatherings and parties, and smaller weddings. I work alone so I may not be able to accommodate you for large weddings. However, as you can see from my gallery, I do occasionally make exceptions so feel free to ask. My style is best described as a mix of traditional, arranged poses and what is commonly called lifestyle photography. Lifestyle portrait photography has a spontaneous, journalistic element with a dash of control. These are those moments when I am more apt to capture a person’s authentic personality. I find that most clients like to have a combination of both. I do make a point of making sure I get plenty of those shots that the grandparents want to have for their mantle. I also work hard to keep the experience fun and enjoyable and seeing happy faces at the end of a session is my barometer for success. My goal is to provide clients with personalized photographs that give a record of a place and time in their life that will be cherished for years to come. When you choose me to take your portraits you are trusting me to turn intimate moments into family treasures and this is a privilege that I take very seriously. Your complete satisfaction will always be my highest priority. Please check out my sessions page for a description of what I provide and what you can expect if you schedule a session. Thank you for taking the time to view my site and for considering me when you are looking for a portrait photographer. The best way to reach me is by completing the contact page or you can email me directly at dhutchings10@msn.com Many thanks, Diane |
